Frequently Asked Questions
How can I prepare for my tattoo session?
-
Hydrate: Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment. Avoid alcohol 48 hours prior as it can affect the tattoo process.
-
Rest: Ensure you get a good night's sleep before your session.
-
Clothing: Wear appropriate clothing that allows easy access to the area being tattoo.
-
Communication: Be clear about your expectations and address any style concerns during the design process. Speak up if you'd like to amend the design prior to getting started with tattooing and let me know if and when you need breaks.
What should I expect during the tattoo process?
-
Design Review: We'll discuss the elements of the tattoo in the beginning of the appointment before I start the design process. I will come up with the initial design based on what is discussed and present it to you on my iPad. You will look it over and we can make any revisions prior to stenciling or freehanding directly on your skin.
-
Pain: Tattooing involves some level of discomfort. Pain levels vary depending on the location and your personal tolerance.
-
Duration: The time needed for the tattoo will depend on the size and complexity. Typically, we'll talk while we listen to music and/or watch a show or movie on the tv to pass the time.
May I bring my own design?
I enjoy collaborating with you to understand what elements you want in your tattoo; however, I ask for creative freedom to design and execute a customized piece to your unqiue anatomy.
Am I allowed to ask for breaks?
Absolutely! We will take short breaks regularly for longer sessions; however, let me know if you need to adjust your position, go to the restroom, grab a snack or drink, or just need a minute.
May I bring food with me to the appointment?
Of course! While I have some light snacks and a stocked refrigerated in the studio for clients to enjoy, you are more than welcome to bring food and drinks with you. Alternatively, there are many places around the studio for you to grab a quick bite to eat. You can also DoorDash or UberEats something to the studio.
Are you able to do an entire sleeve in one session?
Sleeves are executed over multiple full day sessions. I do one section of the arm in its entirety each session until the sleeve is completed.
How long does it take for a tattoo to heal?
The outer layer of the skin typically takes 2-3 weeks to heal. Deeper layers of the skin can take 4-6 weeks or longer. Healing times vary depending on the tattoo's size and location, as well as after-care execution and individual health factors.
Do you offer touch ups?
Yes! You can make an appointment for a touch up after the tattoo has a chance to heal over 3 months.
